The Pfalzwerke Aktiengesellschaft and Schott Solar entered into a joint venture, the “PFALZSOLAR GmbH”. At that time, PFALZSOLAR was a special purpose vehicle for the development, construction and operation of photovoltaic power plants.
2003 | First utility scale solar park

In 2003, PFALZSOLAR constructs its first utility scale solar park: With a total capacity of 2.0 MW the “Solar park Neustadt” in the south west of Germany was one of the first large scale pv power plants at that time. Till now, PFALZSOLAR is owning a part of the solar park and is, furthermore, responsible for the operation and maintenance of the whole plant.
2008 | PFALZSOLAR becomes a 100% subsidiary of Pfalzwerke

In 2008, the Pfalzwerke Aktiengesellschaft acquired the remaining shares of PFALZSOLAR and became the sole shareholder.
2009 | Framework Agreement with FirstSolar
February 2, 2009
PFALZSOLAR and the world’s largest manufacturer of thin-film solar modules, FirstSolar, signed a framework agreement. Until 2012, PFALZSOLAR purchased thin-film solar modules with a total capacity of 40 Megawatt for own large scale pv projects and for trade.
2009 | Founding of the PFALZSOLAR Betriebsführungsgesellschaft mbH

The PFALZSOLAR Betriebsführungsgesellschaft mbH coordinates all O&M activities. Currently, the company is responsible for the monitoring and operation of a pv power plant portfolio with a total capacity of more than 150 MW.
2011 | Climate-Protection-Certificates

The Pfalzwerke Aktiengesellschaft issued for the first time “Climate-Protection-Certificates”, which are fixed-interest bonds that contribute to the refinancing of the solar park “Höheinöd” (2.1 MW). Electricity customers of the PFALZWERKE as well as customers of the online-brand “123 Energie” could invest up to 20,000 € with a maturity of not more than ten years and a guaranteed interest of 5 percent. 2012 | Largest PV power plant in the company history

PFALZOSLAR developed and constructed so far the largest solar park in the company history: On a former militairy air field and a gravel plant in direct proximity, PFALZSOLAR built a pv power plant with a total capacity of 16.5 MW. One part of the power plant (12.1 MW) is still operated by PFALZSOLAR. The other part has been bought by the owner of the gravel plant, the German Heim Gruppe.
2014 | PFALZSOLAR expands into the residential PV segment

PFALZSOLAR expanded its business and entered the private customer segment. By now, PFALZSOLAR puts nearly every day one residential pv power plant into operation. The demand for energy storage systems is constantly growing.
2015 | PFALZSOLAR entered the British PV market

In 2015, PFALZSOLAR completes two large scale PV projects with a total capacity of 18 MW in Great Britain. In 2016, we’ve put six more projects into operation. All in all, we’ve connected PV power plants with an overall capacity of nearly 50 MW to the grid. Half of those projects were co called “Community Energy” projects, which are supported and refinanced by residents of local communities.
2016 | First large scale energy storage system

Together with PFALZSOLAR, BASF and the “Technische Universität Kaiserslautern” (Technical University of Kaiserslautern), the Pfalzwerke Netz AG is testing for the first time a large scale energy storage system. The project partners installed a lithium-ion-battery at the solar park Landstuhl, which has been put into operation by Pfalzsolar in 2013. 2016 | PFALZSOLAR founds U.S. subsidiary

At the end of September 2016, PFALZSOLAR founded a U.S. subsidiary, the PFALZSOLAR Incorporated. The new company has its registered office in Atlanta, Georgia, and was mainly founded for processing the project business in the U.S market.
2017 | ISO 9001 and 14001 certification

On August 17th, DEKRA officially presented two certificates to PFALZSOLAR which attest that the company’s Quality and Environmental Management System corresponds to the ISO 9001 and 14001 standards.
2017 | New Markets: Netherlands & Mallorca

In 2017, PFALZSOLAR entered two new markets: In the Netherlands, the company is offering project development, EPC and O&M services for large scale PV rooftop installations and ground mounted power plants. In addition, PFALZSOLAR is realizing PV power plants for residentials in the Netherlands. In Mallorca, PFALZSOLAR is also planning and contstructing PV power plants for private house owners.
2018 | OHSAS 18001 certification

In May 2018, PFALZSOLAR receives the OHSAS 18001 certification for its health- and safety-management.
2019 | SOLARPARK ‘ALMERE’ WITH 34 MW

With a capacity of 34 megawatt peak, the Almere solar park ‘Zuyderzon Almere’ in the Dutch province of Flevoland is one of the largest in the country. PFALZSOLAR prevailed against numerous international competitors in a call for tenders and won the contract to implement the large-scale project.
2019 | SUCCESS IN THE US AMERICAN PROJECT-DEVELOPMENT: PFALZSOLAR SOLD FIRST PROJECT

PFALZSOLAR Inc. has been developing its project development in the USA since 2016 and is celebrating its first major success. The fully developed “Fine Farms” project with an output of 4.8 MW was sold a few days ago to an American investor.
